Lagardère Travel Retail has opened the first Greggs store in an airport outside the United Kingdom, at Tenerife South Airport (Reina Sofia), on a day of particular significance for the destination, coinciding with Canary Islands Day.The project is a milestone in the travel retail development of Greggs, a well-established and much-loved food brand in its home market of the UK, and marks the beginning of a partnership designed to leverage Greggs’ strong consumer appeal with Lagardère Travel Retail’s expertise in delivering tailored dining concepts in high-traffic locations.

Located airside in Terminal A, in a prime location adjacent to passport control and serving one of the airport’s main departure flows to the United Kingdom, the 197m² store joins the commercial mix in one of the busiest airports in the Canary Islands, welcoming more than 14 million passengers in 2025, including approximately 5.5 million British travellers, its largest passenger segment.. The new outlet will offer travellers a range of Greggs’ signature products – including its famous sausage roll – alongside a menu adapted to the local environment and to Tenerife South’s passenger profile.

The opening reflects Lagardère Travel Retail’s approach in airport foodservice, combining global brand partnerships with local market insights to deliver relevant and scalable concepts across its network. The introduction of Greggs further enhances the diversity of the company’s dining offer and illustrates its ability to work with leading brands across different markets and passenger segments.

The store is designed to serve both UK passengers familiar with the brand and international travellers discovering Greggs for the first time, in a high-footfall, travel-oriented setting.

Since its foundation in north-east England 85 years ago, Greggs has built a strong reputation for offering quality, freshly prepared food to customers on the go. Today the company generates over £2 billion in turnover, with a store network spanning 3,000 locations in the UK.
