New space dedicated to artist Fito Espinosa marks regional first for Lagardère Travel Retail Peru

Space dedicated to artist Fito Espinosa

Lagardère Travel Retail Peru, in collaboration with Lima Airport Partners, has inaugurated a space dedicated to the creative universe of Fito Espinosa® at Jorge Chávez International Airport, marking a milestone for the travel retail industry in Latin America. Open to travellers at Lima since August 11, the new space in the international departures area of the airport showcases the work of the award-winning Peruvian artist, in what is believed to be the first concept of its kind within a duty free store in Latin America. The space invites travellers to discover one of the most recognizable expressions of contemporary Peruvian art. Fito Espinosa's work explores sensitivity, spirituality, nature and connection with the inner world, an imaginary universe that has transcended galleries to become a design and lifestyle brand.

With this initiative, Lagardère Travel Retail reaffirms its commitment to go beyond traditional retail, turning its spaces into platforms for culture and showcases for local talent in front of millions of international travellers. By integrating contemporary art as a central part of the traveller experience, the retailer is breaking new ground in the region.

Visitors to the Fito Espinosa space will find works in fine art format, painting, sculpture, ceramics, porcelain, jewellery and limited edition pieces developed together with Peruvian brands and craftspeople.

“We are very proud to work with one of Peru’s most recognised artists to bring contemporary Peruvian culture to Lima Jorge Chávez International Airport,” says Miguel Ruiz, CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail Peru. “We believe this is the first concept of its type in Latin American duty free, illustrating our determination, alongside Lima Airport Partners, to create a truly unique retail offer. Fito Espinosa’s work encapsulates the Peruvian spirit and we are delighted to help bring his work to an international audience.”

With this opening, Lagardère Travel Retail is embracing its role as a promoter of Peruvian culture and confirming the new Jorge Chávez International Airport as a privileged platform to bring Peruvian creativity to the world.
